Wednesday: He knows me

You can arrive from the middle of the afternoon. We have supper together, followed by the opening meeting. The first evening is about being known: God knew each of us by name before we knew Him. The Bible texts are Psalm 139, verses 1 to 16, and John 1, verses 45 to 51.

Thursday: I know Him

There is morning worship, a main meeting and the first round of workshops. The morning is about staying close to Jesus, as a branch stays in the vine. The Bible text is John 15, verses 1 to 11. The afternoon is free: the school stands beside a lake, and it will be the last daylight of the year. On New Year’s Eve the message is the parable of the ten virgins, in Matthew 25, verses 1 to 13. Then we give thanks for the year and pray the new year in.

Friday: we know each other

The first day of the year. The morning is about friendship, and the love that shows whose disciples we are. The Bible text is John 15, verses 12 to 17. There is the second round of workshops, and the members’ business session, where the board answers for the year and members report on the work they have been doing. Everything is finished in good time before Sabbath, which this far north begins at sunset in the middle of the afternoon. We welcome the Sabbath together, with the story of the first friends Jesus called, in John 1, verses 35 to 51.

Sabbath: that the world may know Him

There is Sabbath school and the worship service, where the Bible text is John 17, verses 1 to 3. In the afternoon members tell what they have seen in the work they are doing across Scandinavia. After sunset there is a closing meeting, where we pray for one another and are sent out. The Bible text is John 17, verses 18 to 23.

Sunday: home

We have breakfast, and the rooms are handed back by the middle of the morning.

Workshops

Smaller groups, and a chance to ask questions

There are two rounds of workshops, so you can go to two. Each one is led by somebody with practical experience of the subject. The workshops are in three groups, one for each part of the theme. These are some of the subjects suggested so far:

  • Knowing Him: prayer as friendship, reading the Bible to know Him, and leading without running dry
  • Knowing one another: friendship and accountability, marriage and family, and mentoring the next generation
  • Making Him known: business as mission, telling your story in three minutes, and starting a ministry or a business

The final list, with the name of each workshop leader, will be published here as it is confirmed.

Children and youth

Their own programme, in their own rooms

During the main meetings and the workshops there is a programme for children and one for youth, grouped by age and led by adults the board has approved. At all other times children are with their parents, and we all eat together.

The children’s theme is “Jesus knows my name”. The youth theme is “Real friends”.

Please tell us each child’s year of birth when you book, so that we can plan the groups.
